Broadway Community gathers around an open table, believing that the feast of justice, dignity, health and wholeness is for all people. We work together to see that everyone is included, breaking down the barriers of poverty, inequity, and privilege. From this feast we serve one another, transforming society until all are fed.

We provide:

  • The Four Star Soup Kitchen: Gourmet style, healthy breakfast and lunch on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday each week
  • Food pantry: Nutritious food packs for our neighbors who hunger (including fresh fruits and vegetables from our Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) partners)
  • Social Services: Guidance through the maze of public assistance programs, including Housing, Medicaid, SNAP (Food Stamps), etc.
  • Shelter: 12 homeless men find a place of welcome here seven nights a week
  • Showers, clothing, and laundry for our homeless guests
  • Foodservice And Nutrition Training Awareness Project (FANTAP): a workforce development program which provides culinary training and prepares students to earn their NYC Department of Health Food Protection Certificate
  • Community engagement: providing volunteer opportunities that draw neighbors together across boundaries of socioeconomic situation
  • Health care: Medical support for the homeless members of our community, and for others in our neighborhood that may be unable to access affordable health care. (Medical services are provided on site through our partners at the Institute for Family Health.)

How can you help?

This year, BCI used its CCS grant to purchase new kitchen equipment to help with the preparation and service of the meals for its 4 Star Soup Kitchen.
