Saint Mary's Episcopal Church Soup Kitchen and Food Pantry

Categories: food and emergency services, senior programs

St. Mary’s Food Pantry serves neighborhood families on Mondays between 4:30 and 6:00 pm. Assisted by community volunteers, shoppers select three days’ worth of food for their families from their client-choice pantry.  1/4 of the people they serve are children and 1/4 are elderly. They offer a variety of foods, and from June to December they have fresh produce from an upstate farm. Every Saturday afternoon, their Outreach Soup Kitchen volunteers prepare 80-100 lunches for hungry and homeless people on the streets and in parks in Harlem. At 2:00 pm, they deliver meals by car or on foot from west to east, and inform people about other free services offered through the church, such as the medical and dental clinic and the free Friday night movie.

How can you help?

CCS grants allow St. Mary's to update their kitchen, and provide modest stipends to their volunteers.
