Established in 1964, Bloomingdale School of Music (BSM) is a non-profit community music school located in Manhattan's Upper West Side. The school's mission is to provide open and continuous access to high-quality music education, regardless of economic status, ability level, ethnicity, or religious affiliation. Since its founding, BSM has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to providing access to music education for individuals from underserved communities, opening doors to the musically curious who may otherwise be prohibited from taking up an instrument, and offering a path to prepare talented students for more advanced musical study.
The CCS grant ensures that cost is never a barrier for children to access high-quality music education. As a result, Bloomingdale School of Music is able to offer a need-based financial aid program that provides tuition subsidies to about 20 New York City students. This provides education in early childhood music classes, private instrumental lessons, and beyond.
