Community Impact, located at Columbia University, is dedicated to serving Upper Manhattan by providing targeted service programs to disadvantaged local residents. Meaningful volunteer opportunities are offered to students, staff, and faculty of Columbia University. CI’s Healthy Families Initiative focuses on hunger/food justice, health education/wellness, positive communication strategies, student literacy, and adult education. The Initiative enables CI to serve more than 5,600 low-income adults and children at community sites throughout Upper Manhattan.
Their CCS grant is used to fund the "Meeting Changing Community Needs" project that includes tutoring, English for speakers of other languages, health needs, the emergency food pantry and the Community Lunch program.
