The Rev. Linnette C. Williamson Memorial Park Association, Inc., is a nonsectarian, nonprofit Harlem land trust. Now in its third decade, the Arts and Gardens Summer Youth Enrichment Program has provided Harlem children positive, challenging and fun educational opportunities, plus field trips in art, dance, engineering, environmental stewardship, gardening, music, science, technology, and theatre. Without this free program, the children (ages 5 to 11) could experience a significant decrease in their basic literacy and other skills – known as the “summer slide” in reading, writing, and math skills – when returning to school in August/September.
The CCS grant is used to support the many Arts and Gardens programs and curricula they offer the community.
