Because of the generosity of faculty, staff and students from all our campuses, a total of 700 book bags filled with school supplies were collected for children in our local communities who are returning to school.

On Wednesday, August 21st, the Columbia University Public Safety, the 26th Precinct, and Community Board No. 9 hosted the Fifth Annual Back to School event at Old Broadway (bet 125th & 126th Street). Hundreds of parents and children gathered to participate in rock climbing, dental screenings, health screenings, haircuts for boys, hair braiding for girls, refreshments and other fun activities as they collected their school supplies.
